A SERIES of DISCUSSIONS on ZOOM, part 4
October 13, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
The Deconstructionists Podcast – selected episodes
Over the years we have had both book groups and bible studies. This new offering is a weekly discussion group over 5 weeks focused on selected posts from The Deconstructionists podcast. The Deconstructionist is a podcast produced by two Nth American’s; Adam Narloch & John Williamson. In each episode, they interview an academic, writer, theologian, philosopher, justice advocate, musician, or fellow pilgrim of the progressive Way.
Their guests are articulate and insightful. We have read and discussed many of them during our book groups over the years.
- Each podcast leaves you with plenty to think about!
- Each week we will listen to a selected podcast prior to our getting together and then spend our time together on Zoom discussing what we have heard, what we liked, and what we will take away from the episode.
You may have some questions or comments you want to share with the group. There are over 120 episodes on the podcast so it has been hard to narrow it down to just 5. Listed below are the first three for the group. I chose a variety of topics and guests for our time together but please – feel free to listen to as many as you want!
Where to access the podcast for our discussion group?
You can access the episodes on both Apple Podcasts and Spotify via your phone, tablet or PC. I have included a link to each episode. You can also see the full range of podcast episodes at The deconstructionists podcast. You do not have to pay for any app to listen to these episodes.
Week 4: Ep 96 of The Deconstructionists – Dr. Jacqueline Bussie “Outlaw Christian”
Dr. Bussie is an award- winning author, professor, theologian, public speaker, and student of life in all its messy beauty. Her books include “Love without Limits (2018) and “Outlaw Christian” (2016), which won the 2017 Gold Medal Illumination Award for Christian Living. Jacqueline teaches religion, theology, and interfaith studies classes at Concordia College in Moorehead, Minnesota, where she also serves as the Director of the Forum on Faith and Life.
In preparation for our time together you could read the story of Thomas again (Matthew 20: 24-29) and reflect on your own scars ….along with all the other things she talks about!
